It’s definitely a bit of a pain to set up correctly but well worth it. I have a digital front end as well. Most of my vinyl focus typically is with older recordings though this selection might suggest otherwise!
Some great stuff here that I haven't heard of but definitely will keep an eye out for! My two favorites I picked up this year on CD are probably Casiopea's Mint Jams and Weather Report's Heavy Weather. Oh and I also have been really digging Hiroshi Yoshimura's Flora!
Is that a Michel turntable? My favorite. What tonearm?
Yep! An Orbe SE with a Graham 2.2 tonearm. I have more specifics about my system/gear in a previous post: https://open.substack.com/pub/avantcrap/p/evolution-of-an-audiophile-lite?r=cv5iw&utm_medium=ios
When properly set up, which is difficult, it has great isolation. I assume still an AC synchronous motor. Most direct drive turntables sound terrible.
Still, high quality .wav files sound better with a great DAC.

Great picks, The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble is something else! I'll have to check out some of these others I'm unfamiliar with!
They’re a lot of fun! Funky but not so high energy.

I love mint jams! I have a copy on vinyl. I will never, ever get over that the album is recorded live. 🤯
I know right?! It always blows my mind how good it sounds, I just can't stop listening!
